Hello everybody,

I have a question regarding following situation:
we are working on a kiosk whose purpouse is to serve as a multipayment environment. For example, for bill payment, ticket buying, buying prepaid code for mobiles, balance acquring, web sufring etc.

The kiosk has metal solid case which contains big LCD touchscreen, PC wih Windows OS, printer, barcode reader and Banksys Xenteo unattended payment terminal for dealing with bank payment transactions.
Xenteo and kiosk application (which is resident on PC and controls the peripherals like touchscreen, printer) are communicating throgh a TCP/IP connection.

The problem is following: where can we display information messages like
"Enter your card"
"Remove your card"
"Enter PIN on the Xenteo keyboard on your right"
"Pin OK/NOK"

Can we display them on the touchscreen, beside the Xenteo LCD screen, and be compliant with the current PCI/EMV standards for unattended payment terminal?

This messages are just for presenting information to a cardholder, kiosk touchscreen shall not be used for PIN entering!

Thanx in advance,

Kristijan

How about considering some sort of display polarizer such as those from 3M or similar manufacturers? It's not perfect, but would limit the ability of anyone to 'shoulder surf' without being noticeable.

However, while limiting the ability to 'shoulder surf', you still have the threats presented by inadvertent or deliberate placement of security cameras near the unit which may allow for the recording of people using the kiosks.

This is particularly a problem for ATMs and other similar units placed near store or mall entry points as these areas almost always have cameras on the area as they are the most likely for getting a good view of all persons that enter or exit a facility. In the cases of malls or large stores, entry/exit points are also areas that are most at risk for violence or other criminal activities.
