Hi
I am from India and I have a query which has been bothering me for a few days now. I am not sure what is the practice on this issue in other countries, but I would sure like to know.
My question is: Is there a requirement that a Third Party Processor for an issuing Bank must mask/truncate the PAN in the Credit Card Statement given to the Cardholder. I know that Requirement 3.3 mandates the masked display of the PAN but the Third Party processor states that this is not a practice followed anywhere in the country and this could cause an tremendous customer backlash.
I am not convinced that the PAN needs to be masked in the Credit Card Statement, but I also cannot ignore the language reflected by Requirement 3.3. I would like someone to help me out with this. Please also tell me whether masking the PAN is done for Credit Card Statements by banks in your countries.
