Once my Security Advisor and his team submit the report to VISA, does anyone know, generally, how long it takes for VISA to either approve or not? I have heard this can take as long as 6 months...

My experience is that it takes Visa about 60 days for the first response for a filed report. Depending on how much addition information or clarification they might require, six month for the entire process is not unheard of. I don't know if it is common to take this long, but I have experience with a couple that have.

I would query your PA-QSA - they should have an idea if they've submitted these in the past,
I have recently heard in the 2-3 month range.

The estimated turnaround time in November 2007 from time of submission from PA-QSA to Visa response was 45-90 days for the first round; and another 45-90 days for the second and final round.
Actual:
First round submitted by PA-QSA to Visa 30-Nov-07
First round response from Visa in Mid Jan-08 (Appx. 45 days)
Second round submitted by PA-QSA to Visa 23-Jan-08
Final listing on Visa website 15-Mar-08 (Visa approved before this but this was the key milestone date) (Appx. 45 days)
Actual total was about 4 1/2 months; from first submission to listing on Visa.com.

Also, I've noticed that the turn around is getting longer and longer as deadlines approach. Early 2007 we had 30-45 days from filing to listing (assuming no major problems). I'm crossing my fingers that when the SSC takes over that the times will improve.
