Asia Pac Deadlines

I've been hearing rumours about December 2008 deadlines for PCI in Asia Pac. At this point they are rumours - has anyone heard any solid dates for specific merchant levels or know of any on-line sources?

It's about time PCI set a date, published it and stuck to it. They've cried wolf once before in asia pac and now it's impossible to take them seriously. Consequently funding for PCI projects has a huge question mark over them and rapidly approach zero.

The rumour, as I understand it, is that the card brands will no longer be tolerant of merchants or service providers who are not compliant (or making serious efforts) by Dec 31 2008, at least in Asia Pacific.
2009 is potentially going to be the "year of fines" on that basis.

As I've heard this from several sources, I consider it more truth than fiction.

I also have not heard this as a fact, only as hearsay from various sources. However, based on the sources, I too would agree with Lyalc that it appears the rumors are more true than false.
