Ground Labs have released Card Recon, a PCI DSS auditing application used to find stored payment cards within emails, documents and a wide variety of file types on Windows and Linux hosts.
This application has been developed over a long period of time with the co-operation of various PCI QSA's and security professionals to ensure this application delivers the highest levels of accuracy and lowest rate of false positives when identifying stored payment card data. Those that have used any free scripts or simple SSN/CC finder apps to do this in the past will know false positives and false negatives are a major issue and one we have invested considerable effort in solving.
Upon completion of a scan Card Recon outputs a storage report that will assist merchant's, service providers and their PCI QSA's to determine if insecure payment card data is being stored on a given host.
Card Recon Free Edition can be downloaded from http://www.groundlabs.com/ and commercial versions which include reporting can be purchased and downloaded online.
